NotebookLM app gets bug fix updates on Android, iOS

Following the launch last week, Google has updated the NotebookLM app for Android and iOS with a number of bug fixes.

The NotebookLM team says it “spent the past few days fine-tuning our mobile app.” Google has improved the chat and source handling, as well as small tweaks to the interface. There are also general stability and performance improvements.


More Reliable Chat

  • Fixed an issue where your chats and descriptions could sometimes vanish
  • Reduced errors during the “add source” flow
  • Reduced network timeouts during chats

Improved Source Handling

  • Fixed some crashes caused by large document uploads
  • Fixed “0 source limit” error when adding sources
  • Fixed source UI being unoptimized for some small screens

Visual Polish & Accessibility

  • Improved the appearance of project tabs in Dark Mode, and the project description loader now has a smoother dark mode animation
  • Icons in the Playback and Studio sections now use clearer symbols
  • Optimized UI for large OS font settings

General Stability & Performance

  • Fixed a number of bugs that were causing crashes
  • Showing media control notifications more reliably when audio is playing
  • Fixed localization for some languages, ensuring the app accurately speaks your language

These bug fix release notes for NotebookLM are available on the App Store (but not Google Play) and online. The latest version for iOS is version 1.0.6 from Friday.

Update: Version 2025.05.22.762011548 is widely rolling out on Android as of Tuesday afternoon.
